A Festimonial About Festify

Fousing on happiness, gratitude and joy, Festify celebrates joyful transformation.

There’s always something to celebrate!

Featuring a series of Festimonials (better known to some as blogs), Festify shares happy, upbeat musings on how to joyfully transform various aspects of life and make them more festive.

Let’s swear to have fun!

Most definitions of “festify” are variations on to make festive, but I originally thought of it as a vow: to swear to have fun!  And that’s the raison d’être of this website. To make festive! To swear to have fun! To be a joyful resting spot, a hangout to drop into about things celebrational, a lighthearted gathering place for all things positive, a canvas where gratitude can be cultivated.

This being my first Festimonial, I’m not sure how the site will evolve as it grows, but it will remain positive, joyful and celebrational.

There will be a lot of stuff up here about what makes me happy: things I love; things that make me smile; things I enjoy doing; and things that have brought light when I needed help pulling myself out of darkness. Because, just as the nighttime follows the day, there will always be darkness, and I think we can help stave it off by doing what we can to recognize, acknowledge and enjoy the light when it shines on us.

My hope for you is that every day you have some fun, something to celebrate, and much to be grateful for.

A Little Bit About Lorraine

Lorraine Jamison, Festify Cultivator

After I abandoned my adolescent dreams of being a fashion and costume designer like Bob Mackie (because I couldn’t sew!), I started to think about what else I might love to do when I grew up. I was torn between being becoming a minister or a psychologist. So naturally, I became a publicist in the film and television industry.

It’s not as far off the mark as it seems.

Years ago, I attended a week-long spiritual workshop focussed on learning our soul’s purpose, where I crafted my mission statement:

To plant seeds of wonder and nurture the garden I grow in

To this day, my mission statement helps me focus and do my best to stay on the path I want to follow. Publicity is the act of planting seeds of wonder. And I like to think that I’ve done a little wonder-seed planting in other aspects of my life, besides my career.

As for nurturing the garden I grow in – hopefully I’ve kept growing in the beautiful garden that surrounds me in all things - in my yard, my clients’ projects and all my relationships.

I’m originally from Montreal, Quebec, and now I live in Vancouver, British Columbia with my wonderful husband, John, and our beloved canine being, Finnigan, a two-year-old mini Labradoodle. I am blessed to have two beautiful sisters that I cherish, a bunch of amazing nephews and nieces, my sisters’ adorable grandchildren to dote upon, and the steadfast support of some extraordinary friends, cousins and in-laws. I am blessed indeed.

In addition to my husband, family, friends, and Finnigan, my great loves are gardening, walking, making art, writing, movies, books and metaphysics.

My hope for Festify is that it will plant seeds of wonder in those who visit, and that we will all feel nurtured and grow – together.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

Love, Lorraine
